College at a Glance

New Law College, Ahmednagar was established 22nd June 1970 at the auspicious hands of Late Shri. Balasaheb Desai, the then Revenue Minister of Maharashtra. The word ‘ New’ in the name of ‘New Law College’ shows the intention of the society to produce law graduates who will be able to meet the challenges of modern era and make them budding social engineers with legal knowledge. The college seeks to impart legal education, which will be more meaningful and effective in the present circumstances. In the year 1970, New Law College was stared with LL.B(3year course). In the year 1985 LL.B (5 year course) was added. Besides we are running Diploma courses in Labour Laws, Taxation Laws. Recently in the year 2009-10 Diploma in ADR also started in the college. The college also started LL.M Course (regular) and planning to develop it into a research center. Within a span of 46 years, the college educated many students and many of them are occupying key positions in the legal profession and also in the field of Judicial Services, Administrative Services, Public and Private Sector, as well as some of the students are active in politics and the field of social work. Though many of the students belong to rural areas, the college has been able to inculcate in them professional skills and competency. Many of them proved their excellence in their respective fields. The Government of Maharashtra has given permanent affilation to our college on 2nd April, 1975 as well as the college has been granted permanent approval of affiliation by the Bar Council of India vide its letter dated 02nd Feb. 2002. The college is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. 
The college is receiving grants in aid since 1995-96 in pursuance of the decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. The college is situated in the heart of the city and possesses excellent and spacious premises. Our library is one of the renowned and well equipped library in the University region. There are more than 29,387 books in the library and more than 50 various leading journals. Our college is the first law college, which started NSS unit in the year 1978. We are also running Legal Aid Centre which is aided by the State Government and through which various camps and programmes have been organized by the college at different places and also providing free legal advice to needy people. Besides, the college uses to undertake co-curricular activities like Mock Parliament, Moot-Courts, Vidyarthi-Adalat, seminars and discussions on current legal issues. The teaching is made more effective with the help of audio-visual aids. Biometric attendance system is installed for staff and CCTV is alsoinstalled on college premises as well as in library.
